Program Objectives

1. Hunger-Free Karnataka - Anna bhagya Scheme

The Annabhagya scheme is continuing under the slogan of hunger-free Karnataka and about 4 crore people are the beneficiaries of this scheme. The government's aim is that no one in the state should go hungry.

2. Food Waste – Rice is Lifesaving, Treat It Like Gold

In 2023, the United Nations revealed that 280 million people in India suffer from hunger. Preventing food waste is a shared duty. The Food Department’s message is clear: rice is like gold, especially for the poor, and must not be wasted.

3. Right to food for everyone under Article 21 of the Constitution

The right to food safeguards the fundamental right of every individual to be free from hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition. Governments are therefore obligated to ensure access to food for all citizens, upholding their right to a healthy and dignified life.

4. National Food Security Reserve

This Act aims to guarantee food security for the nation's citizens. As per the Act, every member of selected households is provided with 5 kg of food grains monthly, while Antyodaya Anna Yojana families receive 35 kg per household, ensuring comprehensive support for those in need.

5.Nutritious Food – Promoting Public Awareness on Fortified Rice

On April 8, 2022, the Union Cabinet approved the distribution of Fortified Rice through government programs. As per the FSSAI, this initiative aims to boost the levels of key micronutrients in food, enhancing nutritional quality and delivering significant public health benefits with minimal risks.

6.Good Food – Good Health Tagline

In this fast-paced world, taking care of one’s health is crucial, much like the saying “health is destiny.” We spread the message with our tagline: Good food is the foundation of good health.

7.Statewide Ration Distribution by Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation

The Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited facilitates the distribution of rations to all families across the state through a network of fair price shops.

8.Food Department Schemes: Raising Awareness on Welfare, Dasoha, and Other Initiatives

There are numerous schemes available in the Food Department, yet the public remains uninformed. Through our World Food Day program, we strive to raise awareness about these initiatives, including Welfare and Dasoha.

9.Promoting Awareness of Consumer Protection, Essential Commodities, and Legal Metrology Acts

Efforts will be made to enhance public understanding of the Consumer Protection Act, the Essential Commodities Act, and the Legal Metrology Act, emphasizing their significance and the rights they confer to consumers.

10.Awareness Campaign for the Black Marketing Control Act

Creating awareness about the Essential Commodities Act is crucial. This Act aims to prevent unfair trade practices concerning governmentregulated goods and ensures their equitable distribution.

11. On October 16, 'Anna' will be aired on Chandana Channel.

The purpose of the film "Anna" is to highlight the importance of rice. Hence, it has been decided to telecast the film on Chandana Vahini.

12. Title song by Hamsalekha and team on Hunger Free Karnataka - Annabhagya

The anna bhagya scheme is continuing under the slogan of hunger-free Karnataka and the title song will be prepared by Hamsalekha and her team.

13. “Rice: A Treasure for the Needy”

In an effort to reduce food wastage, a compelling visual representation will be designed by expert theater and film artists, centered around the slogan “Do Not Waste Rice: It’s a Lifeline for the Poor.”
